Superseba Making off

Superseba was the first big project done at Wanako.
It was quite challenging since the company had recently opened. The 3d team was really small, just a team of 3 people who had less than 3 weeks to deliver the whole project.

We knew this was our opportunity to show that we can be one of the best animation companies at Uruguay. We worked really hard, and they project had an amazing impact due to it´s quality.
We want to share some production comments with everyone.

Production Breakdown

Considering an extremely short time available for producing the spot, workflow needed to be smooth and efficient. This was a chalenge in terms of organization because steps in the pipeline were overlapped to save time.

The main character (superseba) was treated with special care for detail. After modeling the character, while it was being rigged, textures were hand painted and detail sculpted in Zbrush. Texture and normal maps were exported back to 3D Max for the final look of the character.

Animation was combined with motion capture files recorded specially for this project, this way we could save time and work on the enviroments of the different scenes. Post production effects were added before rendering the final takes, using viewport previews of the takes ant then replacing the files with final renderings in the editing software.

The complete spot was edited using this same process, using previews in the edition software and then replacing the files with the final takes.

Spending some time thinking a production plan before getting to work on the 3D files was key to successfully delivering the spot on time to the client.

Any comments, questions and/or suggestions are greatly welcome, we want to share

Shooting "Sala Pando / Slots - Maroñas Entertainment"

The Opportunity
DDB Uruguay, member of DDB Worldwide, a highly ranked worldwide advertising agency group, trusted us to produce the new campaign piece of one of its bigger clients, Maroñas Entertainment.
Maroñas is a Gambling Group wich stands as reference in Latin America for its variety of entertainment, Horse Racing, Casinos and high class spectacles take place in this wonderful world of adrenaline and dreams.

The Idea
DDB wanted to focus this new piece to young adults, so we worked a script together thinking in a group of friends who want to share a night of fun together, having a few drinks and a lot of fun. Happy faces, lots of smiling and the rush of having a chance to win big. Also the client wanted to show their new card, which the customers will use to earn rewards as they play with the slots.

REC
The crew was chosen carefully, we grouped the "Dream Team" as they called themselves, guided by two young Directors, Fede González Andreu and Pablo Olivery, both experienced yet fresh working cinematographers.

The image in this piece had to be stunning, and the team knew this was the right opportunity to show ourselves and prove we can meet and exceed what the client wanted. We used Canon 5D and 7D with a pack of Canon L lenses, giving the right tools to the crew, so that nothing would stop them. A lot of grip was used, dollys, steadycams and many lighting to create the right atmosphere.

The actors and extras were carefully chosen and working with them was a charm, everything worked smoothly and the result shows exactly what happened during the shooting. 3D postproduction was a bit challenging, but our experienced CG artists managed to make "flying coins" as real as the people behind them.
